Behind the Scenes Commentary
How did the process of working on this story help you better understand a turning point moment in your life?
The process really made me think of my life as more of a “timeline” which was something I don’t do often. I enjoyed thinking back into my past about moments where I knew I was growing up even though at that time, I didn’t know it.
If you had the chance to try this approach to storytelling again, what would you do differently?
I think I would try the hand drawn option again…. I tried it at first, but realized that stock photos made more sense and helped the viewer understand what I was talking about. I would try to use color maybe and draw with a different medium like sketchpad.
What did you find most interesting about your classmates’ turning point stories?
I found it interesting that people really dug deep to tell their stories this time around. I loved that they were comfortable (for the most part) at sharing moments in their lives that were difficult and somewhat scary. Props to them for doing that.
What new digital media skills did you challenge yourself to learn in order to craft this story?
PREZI… I was SO confused at how to use that site. But now, I feel sort of like a pro!
What NEW MEDIA tools did you use to compose the story?
I used Prezi, quicktime screen recording, and iMovie. All are becoming very comfortable tools to work with!
